Private South Coast Tour

Reynisfjara Black sand beach on the South coast of Iceland with basalt columns.

Discover the South Coast on a full-day tour with amazing scenery, local culture, great restaurants, and activities for everyone.

The coastal stretch from Reykjavík to Reynisfjara basalt columns is a visual delight, even to the seasoned traveler. We drive South-East through the lava fields surrounding the capital area and then between the two volcanic systems, Mt. Hengill and Brennisteinsfjöll. From there we head down from the mountains, through the geothermal village of Hveragerdi and then Selfoss, and into Iceland's most fertile agricultural areas. On one side, waterfalls, volcanoes, and glaciers; on the other, sweeping grass fields and black sand beaches.

The South Coast is truly a land of contrasts. It’s hard to imagine that this area was once buried under a thick layer of ash from the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption, where visibility stretched only a few yards. Now, you have the chance to explore this dramatic landscape up close. Highlights include the majestic Seljalandsfoss, Skógarfoss, and the formidable Eyjafjallajökull, all visible from the road. Hidden gems like the waterfall deep inside Kvernufoss Canyon and Gljúfrabúi waterfall offer rewarding tracks for the adventurous.

As with all our full-day tours, this experience includes stops at select gourmet restaurants, dedicated to using the freshest local ingredients—ensuring a delicious meal every time.
