“There is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.” Is a quote by the British adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes and it is just as relevant in Iceland as in Antartica.
While you can easily dress for success in Iceland, the opposite is far more common. Unpredictability is probably the best adjective when describing the weather in Iceland and preparing for the worst is a good start although hoping for the best is not forbidden. Expect high winds and hammering horizontal rain, sleet or even a blizzard in the winter, all this just adds positively to the Icelandic experience, if you are dressed for it.
Based on our experience as guides and travelers we have made the following guide on how to dress to make the best of your days here with us.
